Analysis of Spermine and Spermidine and simultaneous analysis of Bifenthrin and Tetramethrin using Corona Discharge Ion Mobility Spectrometry Zahar Hashemian z hashemian@yahoo com 17 November 2009 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Porf T Khayamian Taghi@cc iut ac irAbstractA new method based on corona discharge ion mobility spectrometry CD IMS wasdeveloped for analysis of biogenic amines including spermine and spermidine n Nonylamine was used as the reagent gas to control the ionization processes andenhance the selectivity It was also realized that ion mobility spectrum of n Nonylamine was changed with its concentration Furthermore a sample injectionport of a gas chromatograph was modified and used as the sample introductionsystem for the CD IMS The detection limits and dynamic ranges of the calibrationplots for Spermine and Spermidine were about 0 2 g mL and 2 orders of magnitude respectively The wide dynamic range originates from the high current of the coronadischarge and this method does not need to derivatized the compounds The resultsrevealed high capability of the CD IMS for analysis of the biogenic amines The potential of CD IMS for simultaneous analysis of Tetramethrin and Bifenthrinand mixtures of the compounds was investigated In this way a three dimenthionaldata was obtained for the samples The data was modeled by using the second ordercalibration method of Tucker 3 The results revealed the capability of the method KeywordsIon mobility spectrometry IMS Biogenic amines n Nonylamine Bifenthrin Tetramethrin Sample injection port Doping gas Tucker 3
