090 Synthesis of Palladium Organometallic Compounds and Their Applications in Heck Suzuki Homocoupling Reactions and cyanation of Aryl halides Azadeh Pirisedigh A Pirisedigh@yahoo com March 3 2010 Department of chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranProf A R Hajipour Email haji@cc iut ac ir Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranAbstractCyclopalladation reactions are well known processes widely studied because theyrepresent a facile method for the activation of a C H bond in aromatic rings and havepotential applications in organic synthesis A large variety of N containing ligands hasbeen cyclometalated including tertiary amines Nevertheless only very recently ageneral method for ortho palladation of primary aryl alkylamines has been reported Inthis thesis the orthopalladated complexes have been synthesized usinghomoveratrylamine L phenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride and L phenylalaninole asligands The reactivity of cyclopalladated complexes as precursors in substitutionreaction with neutral ligands and iodination reaction has been investigated Also theapplication of dimeric complex as a precatalyst in various C C bond formations has beenstudied Carbon carbon bond formation reactions are among the most importantprocesses in chemistry as they represent key steps in the synthesis of more complexmolecules from simple precursors The Pd C6H2 CH2CH2NH2 OMe 2 3 4 Br 2complex of homoveratrylamine was synthesized and its application in Heck couplingreaction was studied The cross coupled products were produced in excellent yields inshort reaction time using catalytic amount of Pd C6H2 CH2CH2NH2 OMe 2 3 4 Br 2 complex in NMP at 130 C Palladium catalyzed Heck couplings utilizing Pd C6H2 CH2CH2NH2 OMe 2 3 4 Br 2 palladacycle catalyst and microwaveirradiation lead to the formation of different coupling products The cross coupledproducts were produced in excellent yields The reaction time was reduced from hours tominutes and full conversion was achieved using catalytic amount of Pd C6H2 CH2CH2NH2 OMe 2 3 4 Br 2 complex in NMP at 130 C by microwaveirradiation The Suzuki Miyaura reaction of various aryl halides using Pd C6H2 CH2CH2NH2 OMe 2 3 4 Br 2 have been investigated Thisorthopalladated complex is an efficient air and moisture proficient catalyst for thecoupling reaction in DMF as the reaction solvent at 130 C The use of dimeric complexas homogenous catalyst under microwave irradiation represent very useful and efficientmethods in organic synthesis so the application of microwave irradiation have been
