Intelligent model of heat and moisture t ligent transfer through light nonwovens Mehrnoosh Rahnama m rahnama@tx iut ac ir 11 20 2010 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Technology Degree M Sc Language Farsi cc iut ac ir#Supervisors Dariush Semnanai Email d semnani Mohammad Zarrebini Email zarrebini@cc iut ac ir Abstract Conservation of heat balance of human body in usual conditions and during extreme physical activities or climatic changes is among the main functions of garments Reaction of body functions metabolism to excessive physical activities or clim climatic changes results in formation of moisture sults on the body skin Evaporation of the body sweat is the main mechanism of heat transfer from human body to surrounding media During this process inevitable wetting of garment adversely process affects comfort function of the garment In this work experimental fiber webs using hydrophi hydrophilic natural and hydrophobic man made fibers were prepared An apparatus incorporati a domestic made incorporating water atomizer capable of simultaneous stimulation of heat transfer and evaporation of moisture by human skin was designed and built Collected data were used for evaluation of heat and in moisture transfer phenomena through the samples Modelling of transfer phenomena was Modelling achieved by determination of transfer coefficients using numerical solution technique Heat transfer and moisture related factors were defined Contribution of the definding factors was determined using statistical techniques It was found that cotton and viscose exhibit the highest found heat and moisture transfer ability Moisture and he transfer coefficient of cotton and viscose heat r 4 11231400 and 16804200 10 4 were found to be 53415600 10 6195380 respectively Key Words Moisture transfer Heat transfer Fiber web Comfort function Evaporation Transfer phenom phenomena
