Abstract This thesis studies the performance of filter bank multicarrier communication FBMC systems in thepresence of carrier frequency offset CFO and timing offset Firstly sensitivity of FBMC systems toCFO and timing offset is studied Secondly CFO and timing offset synchronization algorithm includingboth estimation and compensation steps are investigated Although the emphasis of this thesis is on theclass of FBMC systems that are based on offset quadrature amplitude modulation OQAM thedeveloped results are found applicable to cosine modulated based FBMC systems as well Key wordsFilter bank multicarrier communication systems Synchronization Carrier frequency offset Timingoffset
