257 Abstract Digital steganography and steganalysis attracted the attention of many researchersin recent decades Developments in the field of steganography usually mean the increase incapacity and or in security With the same token the aim of researchers in the fieldof steganalysis is to improve the accuracy of detecting the presence of secret data even forvery low embedding rates In recent decades many steganography methods are developedand every now and then new embedding domains are tested for steganographypurposes These domains can be spatial domain or various transform domains suchas discrete cosine transform wavelet transform or any other transforms One of the earliestand simplest methods for steganography is to replace the least significant bit of varioustransform domains with secret data Replacement of LSBs with secret data is not only the earliest and the simplest formof steganography but also the most vulnerable against statistical steganalysismethods The literature is replete with such methods some of them are very accurate andare able to estimate the percentage of capacity that is used for data embedding Thosemethods that are able to estimate the amount of the embedded data are called quantitativesteganalysis methods Generally the quantitative methods are limited to one domain andcannot be used for other domains In this dissertation a quantitative LSB steganalysis method is proposed for variousembedding domains which is comparable with the most accurate quantitative steganalysismethods The proposed method is able to estimate the amount of embedding not only forthe spatial domain but also for many other transform domains such as DCT For thepurpose of steganalysis the proposed method needs only the histogram of the domainwhich the embedding is performed This causes the proposed method to be less complexcompared to its counterpart methods The low complexity of the proposed method makesit suitable for real time steganalysis over internet or digital telephone trunks In this thesis we also proposed an architecture for our method which is suitable for hardwareimplementation
