Factors Affecting Rural Water Consumption Case Study Andlan Village Mohammad Kolahdoozan mm koah@yahoo com Department of Submission Development Isfahan University of Technologt Isfahan Iran Degree M S c Language FarsiSupervisor Amir Mozafa Amini aamini @ cc iut ac irSupervisor Ahmad Khatoon Abadi Ahmad kh @cc iut ac irAbstractAnd due to limited precipitation and its inppropriate distribution in time and place and our country with anaverage millimeters of rainfall per year which is a quarter of average rainfall in the world is considered aridor semi arid In addition Isfahan province with an average rainfall of millimeters per year is one the driestparts of the country Underground water resources have been depleted dramatically as a result of limitedamounts of surface and underground water in central areas population growth and increasing need to water indifferent sectors especially drinking water and for agriculture As far as agriculture is concerned a highpercentage of water is wasted due to improper irrigation methods Rectifying irrigation methods is one way toprevent wasting of water in agriculture On the other hand educating villagers and farmers about optimumirrigation methods and domestic use can help to rectify consumption methods Main goal in this study is toidentify water consumption in rural areas Andalan village case study and also studying factors affectingefficiency of agriculture water in the village studied Using attributive and survey methods throughquestionnaire this research identifies farmers views regarding methods for exploiting irrigation water The dataof this research were gathered via simple random sampling method including farmers of Andalan village The research tool has been questionnaire whose reliability was calculated by Cronbach s Alpha quotient for allquestions and the figures for specific questions for improving agricultural irrigation efficiency were and respectively Outcomes of the research illustrate that in the society studied waselementary education age average years Also of society population surveyed have more thanyears of farming experience do farming as the only source of income and have no other jobs Accordingto findings of the research the role of Organization of Agriculture in improving irrigation efficiency in thesociety studied has been relatively good and this Organization has been able to improve irrigation efficiency viafollowing up the issue and running more efficient educational courses Furthermore they have underlined roleof education in regards with raising social cultural and technical awareness of farmers which eventuallywouldenhance irrigation efficiency According to the finding of the research most effects among the subjects whichinvolve increasing irrigation efficiency are dedicated to laser leveling of land and smoothing slopes and ups anddowns of uneven farms percent According to the outcomes of the research there is a meaningful relation in levels between educational level of people and the amount of water used in each hectare for any crop in thesociety studied Also based on the outcomes of the research there is a meaningful relation between irrigationrotation in on hec tare of land and farmer s level of education at level and since the relation isnegative number of irrigation rotation will decrease According to the results there is not a meaningful relationbetween integrating agricultural lands and agricultural water consumption A review of the results illustrates thatthere is not a meaningful relation between amount of literacy and age of farmers with efficiency of differentcrops in one hectare of land in the society studied Key Words Rural Water Irrigation Efficiency Agriculture Water Optimum Use
