Introducing an Integrated DEA and BSC Model Incorporated with Network Structure and Dynamic Effects to Measure Organizations Performance Ahmadreza zareian a zareian@in iut ac ir Date of Submission Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiF Mokhatab Rafiei Assoc Prof Supervisor E mail farimah@cc iut ac irAbstractThese days Organizations have several ways to implement their organizational strategies Also there areseveral tools to evaluate the quantity and quality of achieving these goals One of these tools has beenintroduced by Kaplan and Norton is named Balanced Scorecard This approach is widely used byorganizations these days Moreover there is another new and widely used approach to evaluate theefficiency named data envelopment analysis DEA This approach evaluates the efficiency of the systemusing its input and output values through different models Classic models are the first models introducedin the field of DEA Existence of some weaknesses in classic models caused the emergence of network dataenvelopment analysis models In these models systems have a network structure so that after severalinteractions inputs are transformed into intermediate products and finally exit the system in the form offinal products In real word we can find many examples that cannot be conformed precisely into networkstructures This nonconformity is due to the effect of one output in several time periods This effect isnamed dynamic effect In recent years a new approach is introduced to evaluate the efficiency oforganizations by incorporating data envelopment analysis into the balanced scorecard One of the most newand useful integrated balanced scorecard and data envelopment analysis models is introduced by GarciaValdrama in But his model has some weaknesses like ignoring delayed effect of some outputsthrough multiple time periods lack of calculating overall efficiency by means of aggregated items andignoring the exceptions in hierarchical structure of perspectives In this research three suitable approachesare introduced to overcome previous shortages and to calculate efficiency in a more precise way In the firstproposed structure a network is constructed using balanced scorecard perspectives and the model isintroduced after defining the variables In second proposed approach a structure through strategy s horizonwith its model is introduced to evaluate the efficiency of this structure based on series and parallel systems Finally in third approach dynamic effects are incorporated in the network and the model is introduced Moreover a problem will be solved to check the proposed models Keywords Data envelopment analysis balanced scorecard network structure dynamic effects
