Locating Preliminary Drilling Sites at Zafarghand Cu Index Using Integrated Analysis of Geological Geochemical and Geophysical Data in a GIS Environment Sara Safikhani Safikhani Sara88@gmail com 2012 02 15 Department of mining engineeringIsfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language Farsi1 Hooshang Asadi Harooni Hooshang@cc iut ac ir2 Nader Fathianpour Fathian@cc iut ac irAbstract Zafar Ghand porphyry Cu Mo property is located at 90km east of Isfahan and 22 km south of Ardestan Asit is located in Orumieh Dokhatr magmatic belt it could have high potential for Cu mineralization andtherefore recognition and investigation of mineralization system is necessary Zafarghand property wasidentified by using Aster satellite imagery data After ground control and observation of surface evidencesof copper mineralization and alteration associated with porphyry copper mineralization follow upexploration were performed in this area In order to study lithology mineralogy rock texture characterizationand identification of leached alteration zones 13 samples were taken from altered rock units and afterpreparation of thin and polished sections these sections were studied Finally after obtaining the results geological mapping at scale of 1 5000 was prepared The lithological and mineralogical studies indicated thatthe major rocks are comprised of igneous rocks with the composition of rhyolite and rio dacite Minerals observed in the area are consist of pyrite chalcopyrite sphalerite sericite hematite geothite and malachite The alteration of area were created due to impact of hydrothermal solutions and mostly are associated withsubvolcanic rocks of the area They consist of phyllic argillic propyllitic potassic and siliceous alterations The geochemical studies were followed by taking 250 systematic rock and soil sample on a 100m by 100mgrid At the same time infill samples were taken in the central of porphyry system on a 50m by 50m grid After analyzing the collected samples for 43 elements by ICP basic and multivariate statistical studies were 2 and gap statisticcarried out The results showed strong concentration of Cu and Mo in the central part of the dioriticintrusion In order to separate anomalies from the background the classicalmethods were used and showed high correlation with each other The geophysical studies were carried outby using magnetic and IP RS surveys The magnetic survey were consist of 22 profiles on a grid of 60m by30m Then we carried out daily and topographic corrections on the data After processing the data andcreating different magnetic maps the results indicated a high magnetic anomaly related to magnetic mineralsassociated with mineralized potassiclally altered diorite intrusive located in the central part of the SouthZone The IP RS survey were consist of 7 profiles mostly located in the South porphyry center A twodimensional inverse modeling was performed and then a three dimensional model was prepared Themodelling showed the boundary of sulfide and oxide zone argillic alteration as well porphyry body Finally different exploration layers at the South Zone were integrated using three methods of IndependentComponent Analysis ICA Weighted Overlay and Fuzzy Logic The layers were integrated by ICA andWeigthed Overlay were consist of lithological units geochemical and geophysical anomalies In addition tothe previous layers alteration iron oxide and fault density were integrated using Fuzzy Logic method Although all the three methods confirm the results of each other but the ICA and Weigthed Overlay
