Study of Cooling Process in Fabric Equipped with Tube of Cooling Fluid Majid Joghataie majid joghataie@yahoo com Date of Submission 27 02 2012 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dariush Semnani d semnani@cc iut ac irAbstractHigh temperature and moisture in the work place is a big concern in various industries In extremework condition with high temperature and moisture work productivity is reduced because of increasedhuman body and also it can lead to severe side effects Hence it is necessary to create some personalcooling systems in order to these systems can keep body temperature in a suitable condition Thesesystems should be such that be used simply and easily in different places nowadays some differenttypes of personal cooling garments have been produced One of which is cooling garment with vaporcompression system Preliminary researches on these garments focused more on some cases such aswhere cooling is exerted in body intermittent cooling or be sequential tube types tube liquid flow garment productivity and other cases And used fabric material in this garment is not being paidattention and mostly cotton fabrics are used in these garments Also in previous models for thesegarments these were produces as one layer and used tubes were located directly on skin surface In thisproject most applied fabric temperature transfer coefficients in this system have been investigated Inthis investigation first a vapor compression system is constructed with a compressor having 1 8 vaporhorse power and also and also refrigerator R 132a has been used as cooling liquid Then fabric havingvarious materials with knitting circular texture and is result from combination of tubler and Milanotextures were produced and then a copper tube external and internal diameters inside these fabrics are 6and 4 respectively Eventually these fabrics were placed in an environment in which temperature wasset ranges 20 to 55 c so that these fabrics are studied in terms of temperature transfer coefficient andthe best fabric type be selected in this view point Also in this work refrigerator flow was regulatedand experiments have been conducted out in three stages Finally by these experiments it was evidentthat nylon fabric has the most and acrylic fabric has the least temperature transfer coefficient amongtested fabrics and also the more refrigerator mass flow the more temperature transfer coefficient willbe Keywords cooling garment vapor compression system temperature transfer coefficient knittingfabric
