Experimental and Theoretical Investigation on the Nanofiber Production by Electrocentrifuge Spinning Farzad Dabirian F dabirian@tx iut ac ir 2012Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111IranS A Hosseini Ravandi1 hoseinir@cc iut ac irA R Pishevar apishe@cc iut ac irAbstract In this study the centrifuge and electro centrifuge spinning were introduced and theirmechanism were considered and compared with conventional electro spinning the mainparameters of electro centrifuge spinning were detected and the effects of them on the diameterof produced nanofiber and spinning process were determined In electro centrifuge spinningsystem the solution flow rate is dependent on machine and process parameters In this study thesolution flow rate was evaluated both in theory and experiment by means of identifying effectivevariables and finally the theoretical relationships were presented to predict the solution flow ratein electro centrifuge spinning In continue the ability of electro centrifuge spinning to producealigned nanofibers was investigated and the effects of influencing variables on nanofiberalignment were evaluated by image processing as well In the final section of this study thenanofiber structure produced by two electro centrifuge spinning and electrospinng wasinvestigated by X ray diffraction The crystallinity index and crystal size of produced nanofibersis higher for the electrospinning system in compare with electro centrifuge spinning system While the crystals orientation in nanofiber structure for the electro centrifuge spinning willincrease in compare with electrospun nanofiber An increase in the rotational speed of theelectro centrifuge spinning system will increase the crystals orientation Key words Nanofiber Polyacrylonitrile Electrospinning Electro centrifuge spinning Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan university of technology Isfahan Iran Department of Mechanical Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan Iran
