A Review on the Modal Choice Models of Isfahan city Considering Trip Cost Parameter Seyed Farzad Ghoreishi Sf ghoreishi@cv iut ac ir Date of Submission 2012 02 29 Department of Civil Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor S N Shetab boshehri shetab@cc iut ac irAbstractUrban trip prediction process is among the most important parts of the transportation planning This processis appertain to urban transportation planning and its utilization with accordance to effective data and exactanalysis could use for future development as an instrument Conventional process of trip prediction inevaluation of transportation projects has a general structure that modal choice modal split models a part ofsuch structure This model should be sensitive to different traffic politics At this time available modal choice model forIsfahan has been estimated based on travel time and car ownership So lack of effective parameters such astrip cost caused to a decrement in the accuracy of models In the past trip cost factor has not an importantparameter because fuel cost was to some extant cheap But in recent years as for government politics inelimination of subsidies and the effect of these politics on public transportation situations considering oftrip cost in modal choice seems to be necessary In this study existing modal choice models of Isfahan havebeen reviewed considering trip cost and travel time value In this way at first a model has been generatedfor taxi mode This model is calibrated using data achieved from taxi office following considering fuel price congestion of the routes a model have been evaluated for trip cost using personal cars Then these modelshave been used to estimate the utility of different modes Utility functions has been generated calibratedfor personal cars taxi bus motorcycle bicycle The structure of utility function in different trip targetswere considered constant and then these functions were modified calibrated on the basis of different triptargets Finally the utility functions utility models have been calibrated using statistics data achievedfrom the first phase of comprehensive study of Isfahan transportation The result of this study is modification of available models that were not sensitive to trip cost parameter These models could help Politian for pricing of different modes Keywords Trip Pridiction Process Transportation Planing Modal Choice Trip Cost
