90Geochemical Data Analysis of Kuh Panj Copper Deposit and Moin abad Polymetal Deposit and Detection of Their Geochemical Signals Parisa roshani rodsari p roshanirodsari@mi iut ac ir Date of Submission 2012 09 19 Department of Mining Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Ahmadreza Mokhtari ar mokhtari@cc iut ac ir Seyed Hasan Tabatabaei tabatabaei@cc iut ac irAbstractAnomaly detection in geochemistry is an essential technique for exploration A geochemical anomaly isidentified as an area that concentration of elements is greater than threshold value which is common intraditional and modern methods In this thesis separation of anomaly from background is completed overKouh Panj copper deposit including 612 rock samples that are analyzed for 43 elements and sevenexploratory boreholes and in Moin abad polymetal deposit from employing 192 litogeochemical samplesthat are analyzed for 28 elements For separating anomalies from background univariate statistical method median absolute deviation statistical method cluster analysis fuzzy c means clustering analysis principalcomponent analysis fractal geometry linear discriminant analysis and quadratic discriminant analysis havebeen tested Based on results of these analysis in Kuh Panj copper deposit broad anomaly was detected inthe central part of the region with a northwest southeast trend also linear discrimination analysis has74 2 data classification in the area predicted group membership 77 8 for anomaly and 69 2 forbackground quadratic discriminant analysis has 93 5 data classification in the area predicted groupmembership 94 4 for the anomaly and 92 3 for the background Comparing the results of lineardiscriminant analysis with quadratic discriminant analysis it was demonstrated that the linear discriminantmethod is more effective to separate anomaly from background Results from the linear discriminantanalysis show that the anomaly region can be accurately separated from the background while the quadraticdiscriminant analysis method is not effective for samples outside the test area Then in Kuh Panj area theaforementioned methods can be applied for positioning the further drilling operations In Moin abad areamineralization of copper gold and small amounts of zinc in the southern part of the region with southeast southwest trend and in the central part of the region with north south trend copper gold and zincmineralization is delineated Keywords Kouh Pang Copper Deposit Moin abad Polymetal Deposit Geochemical Data Analysis Anomaly separation from background
