Study of How Agrichemical Sellers Play Role and Factors Effecting This Role in Central Isfahan Iran Zahra Nasrazadani zahra azadani@yahoo com 10 September 2012 Department of Rural Development Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 8415683111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Assist Prof A M Amini aamini@cc iut ac irSupervisor Assist Prof A Yousefi ayousefi@cc iut ac irAbstract Consumption of pesticide for the control of plant pests and diseases has been spread from 2500 B Cand over time the use of pesticides has been increased According to the FAO statistics the annualaverage of 1 42 percent of agricultural products in the world is destroyed by pests In the growingpopulation of the world pest s control plays an important role in protection of agricultural products andsupply of foods It is obvious that the pesticides should be used with the right methods at the right timeand with the dose which has been recommended by professionals in order to reduce its adverse effects Inthis study the role of pesticides dealers in the central regions of Isfahan province has been studied andthe effects of important factors have been analyzed This research according to its aim is practical regarding to its nature it s a reasonable case study and based on evaluation method it s an analyticalstudy In order to assess the validity and reliability of the questionnaire in the first stage the pretest wasdone between 30 units of chemicals dealers and so its validity and reliability was confirmed After that togathering required information for this study census and personal refer was collected from 85 units ofpesticides sellers which were located in 40 Km around Isfahan In order to analysis obtained data andinformation a single variants bivariate and multivariate methods has been used also analysis doneSPSS17 and Excel 2007 softwares The results showed that the majority of population in this study wasunder the age of 61 years old and they had between 1 to 10 years experience About half of this research spopulation had a Bachelor degree and also 60 of these sellers known that announcement of theirworking hours schedule to farmers were moderate to highly effective Between the most importantfactors the sellers gave the highest point to stability of the place of their shop for their sales and in theother hand in statistic society one of the most important factors for protection and maintain of chemicalsis the lack of sunlight exposure and although the most important factor for sellers suggestions about useof pesticide to farmers for control of pest and disease is the credit of chemicals manufacturer Otherfactors claimed by sellers were their knowledge about dosage of consumption of pesticides theconfirmation of the effect of advised chemicals to the farmers that was definitely well Evaluation ofscientific data index shows that 62 4 of these dealers have appropriate knowledge also 94 1 werecompletely aware about the importance of education 64 7 of this studied population considered theBrand issue somehow as an important factor Also emphasize the public health was an important point for76 4 of sellers 73 of them were completely aware about their social roles and 63 5 have a goodmanagement for their stores also 43 5 of them have an average knowledge about environmental issues Other results show that there is not any meaningful relation between the age gender behavior andexperience of these chemical dealers however there is a meaningful relation between education scientificdata the use of particular brand of chemicals for selling pesticides the level of sellers knowledge andadverse effects of pesticides on human health and the environment and also the believe of chemicaldealers about their social roles and behaviors The results of this study allows that since human effects hasbeen contribute in such research the training issue which plays an important social role in variousaspects as a requirement should be continued for this class of society Keyword
