Manufacturing and alignment of PCL nano fibers along desired directions by switching method of spinning voltage field Mina Keramati m keramati@tx iut ac ir Date of Submission January 21 2013 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Dr DariushSemnani d semnani@cc iut ac ir Abstract Due to the widespread applications of nanofibers optimizing the production process of nanofibers produced from different polymers is under consideration in different sciences For this reason our research work has been focused on this topic either in order to optimize the electro spinning process in such a desired condition related to the end use applications As we know one of the functional areas of using these kinds of fibers related to medical prosthetics and medical scaffolds which are very sensitive in their fields In this case it s essential for nanofibers being oriented and arranged particularly In order to arrange these fibers in both longitudinal and transversal direction various methods have been held from since now Generally in medical science and especially for implantation of foot tendon cells a transversal orientation and arrangement of nanofibers are being used more for producing various medical media During this research our attempts have been on choosing a new method used in fiber accumulation in order to control the fiber orientation and arrange them in a desired pattern For this reason a collector was designed comprising three different sections named as the control circuit the command circuit and the collecting plate Using this kind of collector with the aim of electro magnetic field switching the oriented accumulation of nanofibers was expected A program was obtained using MATLAB programming software in order to determine how and when the switching happened in parallel and perpendicular wires of collecting plate The switched current transferees through the control circuit and then is performed by the command circuit It can be stated that the main operation done here is connecting the wires with the earth The current is controlled by the circuit and switched in a desired time interval By this function indeed the magnetic field will be switched and the fiber aggregation position on the collecting plate might be controlled During the nanofibers production and electromagnetic field switching the nanofibers accumulated on the wire which has been connected to the earth If all charges of nanofibers won t be discharged the accumulation of nanofibers on wires of the modified collector will continue alternatively on another wire which has been switched this time and connected to the earth It should be mentioned that during the alternative electromagnetic field switching the nanofibers would be undergone elongation in magnetic field In this research also another software program was designed using MATLAB software in which the forces produced through the magnetic field switching have been involved This program can show the nanofibers directions of motions
