75 A study of the fluorescence properties of the six novel furandicarboxylate derivatives as excellent fluorescence standards and simple and fast PO CL method for the evaluation of antioxidant capacity of hydrophilic and hydrophobic antioxidants Aeineh Neda January 15 2013 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Superviser Yousef Ghayeb and Kiomars Zargoosh Email Ghayeb@cc iut ac ir and Kiomarszargoosh@yahoo com Abstract This project includs two sections In first section Six novel furandicarboxylate derivatives were proposed as fluorescence standards for instrumental calibration procedures and luminescence measurements Their spectroscopical characteristics such as fluorescence quantum yields FL and chemiluminescence quantum yields CL were determined and compared to those of the universally accepted fluorescence standards Their outstanding characteristics such as high fluorescence quantum yield moderate chemiluminescence quantum yield excellent stability resistance to UV induced photodegradation and simple and unstructured emission spectra make them preferable alternatives to the well known and widely used fluorescence standards such as luminol and anthracene In second section A simple and fast procedure is described for evaluating the antioxidant activity of hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds by using the chemiluminescence reaction of Bis 2 4 6 trichlorophenyl oxalate TCPO with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of di tert butyl 2 cyclohexylamino 5 E 2 phenyl 1 ethenyl 3 4 furandicarboxylate as a novel fluorophore The AC50 and AC90 values of all studied antioxidants were calculated and the results were discussed on the basis of structure antioxidant activity relationship It was found that the proposed method is free of physical quenching and oxidant interference for this reason proposed method is able to determine the accurate scavenging activity of the antioxidants to the free radicals Finally the proposed method was applied to the evaluation of antioxidant activity of complex samples such as olive oils Keywords Fluorescence Standard Fluorescence Quantum Yield Chemiluminescence Quantum Yield Peroxyoxalate Chemiluminescence Furan Derivatives Cyclic Voltammetry Antioxidant Reactive Oxygen Species Olive OilPDF created with pdfFactory trial version www pdffactory com
