113 2D Inverse Scattering Problem Using Qualitative Liner Sampling Method Considering Polarization Effect and Multi Frequency Technique Mehdi Salar Kaleji m salar@ec iut ac ir September 22 2013 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Language Persian Degree M Sc Thesis Supervisor Dr Reza Safian rsafian@cc iut ac irAbstract Generally inverse scattering in electromagnetic is a problem including reconstruction ofunknown objects in terms of shape and material Some applications of this issue areimaging of unknown objects and locating by using scattered fields and Maxwell sequations There are two different methods for solving inverse scattering problems whichone may group them under qualitative and quantitative titles In the later one there is afunction that must be optimized and there is some iterative process however qualitativemethods as the essential topic of this thesis are investigated such inverse problems inapplied mathematics More speed of response while less needed priori information are thebenefits of this method Nevertheless it has less precision toward quantitative methods The linear sampling method LSM that is investigated in this project is taking intoconsideration scientists that are working in Fields and Waves research area in the lastyears The structure of this problem is based on one linear integral equation IE which isnot required to weak approximation like Born one In this thesis at first we will study andanalyze the linear sampling method mathematically then we use it as a solution forshaping reconstruction of unknown scatterer In addition we will investigatedistinguished effective parameters in the shape reconstruction quality such as transmitterand receiver antennas number frequency and external factors such as noise In mostimportant part of this project we will comprise the effect of incidence wave polarizationin the quality of shape reconstruction in penetrable and impenetrable Dielectric andPerfect Electric Conductor Also we will present a new technique to optimizeperformance of reconstruction based on frequency and polarization as a key point Furtherwe discuss some other linear sampling method abilities the same as multi scattererreconstruction susceptibility in appropriate conditions Keywords Forward and Inverse Scattering Linear Sampling Method Ill Posed ProblemsSingular Value Decomposition SVD Polarization Hybrid and Multi FrequencyTechnique
