Study on the surface properties of Ni P electroless hybridic coatings on deoxidized copper substrate Ali Hadipour a hadipour@ma iut ac ir Sep 14 2013 Department of Materials Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor S M Monirvaghefi Associate Professor Monir vagh@cc iut ac ir Abstract In this research the deposition process surface properties and wear behavior of discrete and continues electroless Ni P hybridic coating was investigated to improve the wear resistance In order to coating the deoxidized copper substrate that similar to continues molding cast was used The sandblast process was performed before plating For electroless discrete hybridic coating the sample was coated with thickness of 20 m Ni P layer and then was covered by 80 m of H Cr layer For elctroless continues hybridic coating the samples entered in Ni P bathroom and by following the change of pH number different layers of 4 to 14 by weight of P was formed that the total thickness of layers were 30 m Finally the effect of hybridic layers on surface and wear properties were investigated also the effect of heat treatment on hardness and wear properties of high phosphorus Ni P hybridic coating was investigated that assessed by using of methods and devices such as SEM EDAX optical microscopy and microhardness The wear test in high temperature of hybridic coatings was studied by pin on disk method Wear test performed in dry condition and load of 4kg wear distance of 500m and temperature of 250 C Results show that Ni P H Cr and continues hybridic coatings of Ni P electroless have better wear resistance than single layer coatings Also with heat treatment of high phosphorus Ni P hybridic coating the hardness of this coating is 2 times of hardness of as deposited this coating This coating has better wear resistance than H Cr coating that was introduced suitable replacement for H Cr coating Keywords Hybridic coating Electroless Ni Wear Deoxidized copper PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www pdffactory com
