ABSTRACT Decision making is the substance of the management and undoubtedly is the most important and the most essential functions of the management that has no other function can be equated with it Since the introduction of the knowledge management as a science has always been proposed various functions as fundamental duties of managers However none of them considered it as important to the decision to not consider other issues of importance and effective regardless of the similarities and differences In addition extensive literature review and numerous publications of the decision making and other related areas typically represent its importance especially in the present time However many decision makers and researchers believe that decision making processes have been much more complex and imprecise today than those in the past They essentially think that it mainly caused by the overhead of additional information higher volatility and also higher uncertainty existing in the today decision environments Therefore making the effective and efficient decisions in recent years requires the tools and techniques which can deal with these complexities and uncertainties Computational intelligence and soft computing are one of the most important and most efficient techniques which have been proposed in order to process and analyze the complex and ambiguous systems with desired accuracy Obtained results of the published papers in the decision making areas indicate that the considerable improvement in decisions quality increasing efficiency and profitability have been achieved by using such that methods The main purpose of this thesis is to use the combination of the intelligent systems and soft logic in order to propose a new efficient decision making model In the proposed model an attempt has been made to augment the unique advantages of aforesaid techniques to classic rational decision making processes which can thereby design a soft and intelligent procedure for today complex problems Therefore in the first step of the proposed decision making model under study systems have been meta modeled by designed soft intelligent techniques in order to simultaneously specify and mine the complex and imprecise structures and relationships Then the decision makers utility function will be calculated by incorporating risk and return functions which are estimated from obtained results of the first step At last a decision with the highest level of utility will be selected as final decision by maximizing the utility function Empirical results of using the proposed model in real and simulated decision making problems such as inventory management and finiancial management problems indicate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed decision making model especially in imprecise complex systems PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www pdffactory com
