61 Modeling of SO2 and NOX Dispersion of Shahid Montazeri Power Plant in Isfahan Seyyede Sedigheh Masoumi Sedigheh masoumi@na iut ac ir Date of Submission 23 January 2014 Department of natural resources Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Hossein Moradi hossein moradi@cc iut ac irAbstractNowadays air pollution is a global problem that has had significant growth by technologydevelopment population growth and industrial development Industrial developmentbrought natural resources deterioration more manufacturing products and moreenvironmental pollutants If pollutant won t be controlled human being and wildlife willface the critical risks Significant release and critical situation is resulted having higherpressure on managers planning pollutants reduction As today the consequences of SO2 andNOx have been proved enough the dispersion of these pollutants will be useful to plan forminimizing the release and meeting the legislative requirements AERMOD viewTM issoftware which has been confirmed by United States Environmental Protection Agency USEPA and it sets in class of preferred and recommended models In this study thedispersion of SO2 and NOX gases from Shahid Montazeri Isfahan power plant weresimulated using AERMOD viewTM in area of 2500 km2 50 km x 50 km The simulationhas been done for 1 3 8 and 24 hourly monthly seasonal and annual time scales Moreover the simulated concentrations were compared with the national standards which e g the maximum amount simulated for annual scale was 135 g m3 and for hourly scaleset up by Department of Environment DoE The results showed that the simulatedwas 1006 g m3 The results indicated that the maximum level of simulated concentrationmaximum concentration of SO2 was higher than the DoE standard level for all time scalesfor NOX is within standard level for instance it was simulated 20 6 g m3 for annual scalewhich is lower than standard level 100 g m3 The integrated land use and annual SO2concentrations above 80 g m3 that are higher than standard contain urban poor range anddispersion map is prepared whit GIS software In this map the areas whit differentpollution concentration and various applications are specified In the integrated maprock which include 3375727 m2 from the study area Keywords Air pollution modeling AERMOD Sulfur dioxide Nitrogen oxides
