Investigating Covariantly Noether Identity and Lagrangian Generators of Gauge Transformations in Some Theories Javad Heidari Jheidari840@gmail com 13 01 2014 Department of Physics Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dr Ahmad Shirzad shirzad@ipm irAbstractGauge symmetries are one of the concepts that can be studied in constrained systems In order toinvestigate this symmetries we can use Hamiltonian and Lagrangian approaches separately Throughthis thesis we choose to work with the latter In this approach we deduce Noether identities by usingequations of motion Also these identities contain generators of gauge transformations By the use ofthese generators gauge transformations could be written for dynamical variables Furthermore by introducing the systematic non covariant approach and deriving the gauge transfor mation generators symmetries of generalized Schwinger models are studied After that using theabove approach another non covariant approach which is called testing method has been studied With this last method the symmetries of Yang Mills electromagnetism general relativity and topo logically massive gravity theories are studied Finally the above testing method is presented in acovariant form and by investigating symmetries of above theories in the covariant form advantagesof using this approach compared with non covariant is illustrated Keywords Symmetry Noether identity Generalized Schwinger model Yang Mills theory Electromag netism theory Diffeomorphism General relativity Topologically massive gravity Metric Connection Covariant
