Evaluation of the Effects of some Soil and Environmental Property on Runoff and Sedimentation in Parts of Lordegan Watershed Region Abdolghader Hasani Sangani Abdolghader hasani@ag iut ac ir August 20 2014 Department of Soil Science Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor s M A Hajabbasi hajabbas@cc iut ac irAbstractSoil is one of the important natural resources of each country and soil erosion as a danger to humanwelfare and even the whole life Erosion and sedimentation are the two natural processes causing surfacedeformation and transformations which could be aggravated by human activities Soil and environmentalfactors can significantly effects on runoff sediment production and erodibility The purpose of this studywas to evaluate the environmental factors e i slope land use and some physical and chemicalproperties e i hydraulic conductivity aggregate stability organic matter and calcium carbonate onrunoff sediment and muddiness at a part of Lordegan region in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari Province A3 17 mm per min for 90 pick of emulator rain shower was used in the virgin forest disturbed forest anddry farming fields Two slope classes 0 12 and 12 25 were used for all land use treatments Forthe comparison of land use and slope intended on runoff sediment and erodibility in a factorialcompletely randomized design has been used with simple linear regression multiple and Pearson scorrelation to evaluate the physical and chemical properties The results indicated that compared to theother two land uses the intact forest produced more runoff The greaterslop 12 25 percent has producedthe highest volume of runoff and sediment yields and muddiness in the dry farming than the other twoland uses This indicates the higher sensitivity of the dry land for degradation and erosion than the othertwo treatments Simple linear regression model showed that the organic matter aggregate stability andhydraulic conductivity by increasing permeability and aggregate strength reduced carbon and increasedrunoff and sediment in the three land use and two slope The correlation between the effects of soilcharacteristics showed that organic matter aggregate stability hydraulic conductivity and waterrepellency have a negative impact on erodibility index and silt with significant correlation r 0 38 at 1 of probability was the most positive effects on the erodibility index Keywords Land use Slop Hydraulic conductivity Stability aggregates OrganicMatter Runoff and Sediment Erodibility
