Nutritional and Management Assessment of Dairy Herds in Shahreza Seyed Hossein Hosseini H Hosseini86@yahoo com 17 september 2014 Department of Animal Sciences Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiG R Ghorbani ghorbani @cc iut ac irAbstractThe aim of this study was to assess dairy herds status and nutritional parameters in Shahreza A total of 63dairies were chosen Multivariate analysis was performed to determine calf nutrition reproduction milk yield animal health and management Statistical procedures were conducted using SAS STAT 9 1 SAS Institute Inc Cary NC The distribution of management practices across herds was determined using the frequencyprocedure PROC FREQ and means procedure PROC MEAN Data set studied included records from 5676cows in 63 herds The median herd average milk yield per cow per day was 21 43kg with milk fat percent 3 30and milk protein percent 3 12 Total count and somatic cell count were about 5000000 cfu ml and 465000cfu ml respectively The data analyses showed aborning weight and weaning weight were about 40 42 and96 07 Kg respectively Because of hygiene ambiance and feeding condition herds have about 5 87 calf patientand 12 92 calf mortality Heifers with 371 34 Kg mean weight and 16 69 months old were inseminated Calving intervals was 12 92 month Qualities and quantities of diets and feeding management is reason for fecalpH about 6 57 and MUN about 18 87 Concentrate to forage ratio was 57 43 This study resulted that mean feedspace water space and area for each cow were 128 95cm 16 63cm 18 13m2 In these herds one worker wasemployed for 214 Kg milk yield Due to lack of accurate information on economic data cost benefit analyseswere not conducted Key words Holstein dairy herds Nutritional and Management Assessment Shahreza
