111 Application of Digital Camera to Measure the Color and Dye Concentration Of colored Solution by Employing Filter Elham farazandemehr e farazande@tx iut ac ir Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan IranDegree MSc Language Persian Dr H Izadan izadan@cc iut ac irAbstractThe purpose of the present research was to estimate the concentration of dyes incolored solution using a digital camera To do so colored solutions wereprepared by the combination of or dyes using six cationic dyes in differentconcentration Then colors and transmission of the solutions were measuredspectrophotometrically Also the colors and reflectance of the colored solutionswere reproduced and reconstructed respectively using the digital camera Thedigital camera was characterized in order to obtain the optimized transfer matrix ofRGB to CIEXYZ by a regression technique in which a third order polynomial wasapplied Afterward the calculated CIEXYZs were used in order to reconstruct thetransmission spectra of the solutions by the application of PCA matrix R andmatrix S methods To improve the performance of the methods a yellow filter wasplaced in front of the digital camera s lens system The filter increase the number ofthe camera s channels from to Finally by the application of the reconstructedtransmission spectra and the beer lambert s law the concentration of each dyes inthe colored solutions were estimated The results show that for each individualcolored solution the accuracy of the reconstructed transmission spectra andconsequently the accuracy of the estimation of the dyes are dependent to the
